Meet Lisa Rites

Certified Grief Educator

Let me introduce myself  and tell you a little bit about my professional background; as well as a little about me. As a Certified Grief Educator, I work with various types of grief. One of the groups I support, in addition to veterans, is divorcees. I meet my clients where they are in their grieving process and help guide them forward on their journey. Divorce grief is a valid form of grief that occurs after a significant loss. This type of grief can also arise from a breakup after a long-term relationship. We can experience many complicated feelings after a separation or divorce.

I have been a Registered Respiratory Therapist for over 40 years.  I believe that my extensive medical background can be utilized to help others in their journey through the grieving process.

I personally have gone through the loss of a parent, family members and close friends, due to multiple types of deaths.  Additionally, my personal experience of going through a divorce, finding happiness, and raising four beautiful, successful children can provide valuable insights to those who are struggling with various types of loss.

Meet Lisa
Blue Skies

There are several types of grief that people may experience throughout their lives. Some examples include anticipatory grief, disenfranchised grief, complicated grief, chronic grief, and traumatic grief. It is important to understand that everyone experiences grief differently and there is no wrong way to grieve.

Anticipatory grief occurs before an impending loss, often experienced by those who are caring for someone with a terminal illness. It can be a difficult and complex emotion to navigate, but it is important to acknowledge and address it in order to cope with the upcoming loss.

Anticipatory

Traumatic grief occurs after a traumatic event, such as the sudden loss of a loved one or a violent incident. It can be a complex and challenging experience, as it combines the symptoms of grief with those of trauma.

Symptoms may include avoidance behaviors, intrusive thoughts, avoidance behaviors, and emotional numbness.

Traumatic

Complicated grief can occur after the loss of a loved one. It is characterized by intense and prolonged feelings of sadness, guilt, and/or anger that can interfere with daily life. If you are experiencing complicated grief, it is important to seek support.  Remember, healing is possible and you do not have to go through this alone.

Complicated

Delayed grief is a common experience for many people who have lost a loved one.  When the grief arises, long after the loss has occurred, it is important to acknowledge it and give yourself time and space to grieve.  Remember, there is no right or wrong way to grieve, and everyone's journey is unique.

Blue Skies and Yellow Fields

Future Focused

Where you are in grief is a difficult place to be, but it is important to remember that it is okay to not be okay. The goals of personal growth after loss can help you find a path forward and create a new normal. Take small steps each day towards healing and know that you are not alone in this journey.  Others have been there and, remember, you have support.

Knowing You Are Full of Potential

A grief educator can not diagnose illness such as clinical depression or prescribe medication. However, we can listen to you, let you know you are not alone, and begin to talk about a path to find your inner peace.  Once there, you will be able to move forward to reach your full potential.

Action Focused

Although you may have lost a loved one, you can still honor their memory by living a wonderful life. Let us cherish the moments you have and make the most of every opportunity. Together, we can create a life that your loved one would be proud of.

Determining Objectives

A grief educator can see your strengths, and help you to see them too.  We will always ask the question "What's next?" not "Why?".

Personal Experience

Grief educators are regular people with a passion to help others with a specific problem or goal.  Personal experience of the educator can be very helpful with guiding you through the process of grief and finding your personal best.

Flexible and Convienient

Phone, email, video chat - no matter where you are, across town or around the world, you are covered. Stay connected with ease and convenience.
